Albariño O Equilibrio, Bodegas Fulcro 2019

Tasting Notes

The 2019 O Equilibrio feels really balanced, subtle, elegant and harmonious, and it's expressive, floral, nuanced and complex. It has the advantage of one extra year in bottle when compared it with the 2020 that I tasted next to it, which is also very balanced. It's a wine that shows very good regularity, and it's terribly tasty and has a salty twist in the finish. This is a rarity, from slate soils, very scarce in the Salnés Valley. It fermented and matured in 400- to 700-liter barrels for 11 months. 4,600 bottles were filled in August 2020. Drink 2022 - 2028.

From vineyards farmed in pergola on vigorous soils, and aged in demi muids. The character here is different to the Pedreira, showing a fuller, richer side to Albarino. Pale lemon-gold in colour, the aromatics are powerful and creamy, with roasted peach and lime oil tones. The palate is still bright with acidity but oily and rich in equal measure. This harmony allows ripe lime and riper peach to even tropical tones to come through. The generous, powerful style here is impressive but always in balance. Long and lightly savoury through to the finish.
