The 2020 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières (Domaine Louis Jadot) is also excellent, unwinding in the glass with scents of citrus zest, crisp green orchard fruit, vanilla pod and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and chiseled, it's racy and incisive, with a tangy spine of acidity and a long, searingly chalky finish.
The density of colour sits between Genevrières and Charmes, though with slightly the weightiest fruit on the nose. The oak has been pushed into the background by the volume of fruit. There is a little thread of grenadine through the essentially pure white fruit, with a very good mineral backbone throughout. Tasted: November 2021
Very pale lemon in the glass. Cool, flinty and fresh on the nose. This is subtle and refined, with layers of mint oil, fresh lemon zest, pithy grapefruit and ripe white peach coming through. The palate is steely, energetic, driven by mouthwatering acidity that buffers the intense fruit core. Unwinding slowly in the glass, there is underlying richness but it is hard to access at this early stage. Real bite and energy through to a very long finish.
