Even bright purple, weighty raspberry with alpine strawberry on the nose, a feeling of well harnessed opulence. This is a wine of very significant substance which will absolutely merit longer maturation in cask, and then in bottle. This fine Boucherottes packs an entirely positive punch at the back, exuberantly ripe red cherries and masterful persistence. The only possible issue is whether or not this, with time, will prove to be a fraction over ripe. Tasted: November 2021
Here too there is a hint of exotic tea to the more floral scented nose of black cherry liqueur. The succulent, generously proportioned and suave medium weight flavors possess a lovely texture thanks to the abundance of sappy dry extract that mostly buffers the firm tannins shaping the bitter pit fruit-suffused finale. Worth a look. Drink: 2030+
The 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Les Boucherottes (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) exhibits aromas of sweet berries, cherries, spices and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied and nicely concentrated, powdery tannins clamp down on the finish. I suspect it will round out with further élevage.
