Chassagne Montrachet La Romanée, Vincent Dancer 2017

Tasting Notes

Notes of petrol and spice poke through the nose that is presently dominated by matchstick aromas. There is superb intensity, indeed it's almost painful, to the sappy, concentrated and mineral-driven medium weight flavors that deliver extraordinary length on the impeccably well-balanced finish. This is quite impressive and a wine that should drink well both young and with up to a decade of age.

The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Romanée is also showing beautifully from bottle, offering up notes of pear, green apple, crisp cantaloupe melon, bee pollen, citrus oil, pastry cream and white flowers. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, racy and precise, with a tensile, incisive profile and considerable concentration. This will really reward at least a few years' bottle age, as it's quite tightly wound at present.
