Crozes Hermitage Meysonniers, Maison M. Chapoutier 2018

Tasting Notes

The deep purple-hued 2018 Crozes-Hermitage Les Meysonniers offers beautiful upfront dark fruit, smoked earth, olive, and graphite notes to go with medium to full-bodied richness, ripe tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish. It's concentrated and a stunner of a Crozes Hermitage.

Deep ruby colour. Juicy, ripe black fruit on the nose with some freshly ground black pepper and pencil shavings. The palate is bursting with blue fruit, plums and violets, layered with more peppery spice. Fine-grained tannins offer freshness and bite, cutting into the plump fruit at the core. This is superb Syrah that showcases the riper vintage whilst retaining the fresh aromatic qualities of the northern Rhone. Sumptuous on the finish and approachble already. Superb value for money!

Black cherries and black olives appear on the nose of the 2018 Crozes Hermitage les Meysonniers. It's more savory and complex than the la Petite Ruche bottling, being medium to full-bodied, with a silky texture and decent length. The 2018s look very successful at Chapoutier, and this sexy Crozes is no exception.
