It’s surely no coincidence that Boekenhoutskloof moved into its swanky new cellar in 2018, as the quality of most of its wines has gone up a notch. This comes from two excellent growers on the Helderberg and is wonderfully focused, layered and complex with some underlying grip, blackcurrant leaf top notes and some seasoning from 5% Cabernet Franc. 2022-30
Rich, ripe black berries & cherries on pronounced & perfumed 2018. Warm texture lifted by attractive herbal whiffs (5% cab franc making presence felt), 70% new French oak - up from 60% in 2017 (4.5 stars, 94 pts) - works to good effect, taming sturdy tannins & adding spicy interest. From 5 parcels in Helderberg & Faure.
