Signature Syrah, Mullineux & Leeu Family Wines 2017

Tasting Notes

One of my "go to" wines when I see it on a restaurant wine list, this intensely perfumed Syrah comes from seven vineyards, mostly on schist soils. Made with 90% whole bunches, it has more tannin than you think at first, layers of spice, violet and blackberry fruit and a refreshing tang. 2020-25

The nose of the 2017 Syrah is elegant with black fruit showing up first, followed by red fruit expressions that mingle with spice and oak tones before subtle floral aromas present themselves and emerge gradually out of the glass. Medium to full-bodied, the Syrah is structured and complex with a focused mid-palate and a long-lingering finish. The 2017 has not yet been released, but it represents great value for the price. Be on the lookout for this bottling. 2020 - 2034
