Gevrey Chambertin Jeunes Rois, Domaine Duroché 2018

Tasting Notes

From a parcel planted in 1953 that tends to produce lots of small, "millrandé" berries, the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Jeunes Rois hails from a lieu-dit that touches Champ at the north of the appellation. Wafting from the glass with aromas of raspberries, cassis, orange rind, raw cocoa and loamy soil, it's medium to full-bodied but a little introverted on this occasion, though it possesses fine potential. Duroché confirmed that this cuvée, which is normally his most concentrated communal bottling, was out of sorts the day we tasted it.
