There are two barrels of the 2019 Musigny Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot), a brilliant cuvée that soars from the glass with aromas of cherries, raspberries, rose petals, blood orange, sweet soil tones and Indian spices. Full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's sumptuous and concentrated, with beautifully refined tannins, lively acids and a long, penetrating finish.
A few whole bunches were used to fill the tank, and they may also liven up the nose. Magisterial, imperial purple in colour with a super-sumptuous bouquet. Too much of a good thing or just a fabulous wine? Let’s check the palate. Here the style and balance of fruit is close to impeccable, somewhere between optimum and maximum ripeness, with some fractionally dry notes (could be the whole bunches in this youthful stage) appearing at the finish. This should all knit together though. Tasted: October 2020
