Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Magnien, Frederic 2001

Big, sweet, explosive aromas of roasted earth, mocha, oak toast and wet leaves lead to robust, moderately intense, quite concentrated flavors underpinned by surprisingly fine tannins yet the finish is long and quite masculine in style. I very much like the fruit/acid/tannin balance here and there is an edgy, energetic quality to this along with that sense of presence that all great wines have. Extremely impressive.
