CDP Cuvee Fiancee, Domaine la Barroche 2006

Tasting Notes

Harvest before the rains and hitting a whopping 16.2% alcohol, the 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Fiancee (an equal split of Grenache and Syrah) certainly has a modern flair, but is nevertheless a smoking effort that's loaded with notions of cassis, blackberry, truffle, olive tapenade and pepper. Big, voluptuous, concentrated and full-bodied, it's still young and unevolved, and will have more than two decades of overall longevity.
