Clos de Vougeot VV, Château De La Tour 2018

Tasting Notes

A slightly riper nose is comprised by notes of poached plum and dark berry liqueur with more evident notes of spice, floral and warm earth. The bigger, richer and more concentrated big-bodied velvet-textured flavors flash outstanding power on the structured, serious and mocha-inflected finish. This is built-to-age in a take no prisoners style and thus it is very much a buy and forget you own it wine.

From vines planted in 1910, the 2018 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes is even deeper and more muscular than the regular cuvée, offering up brooding aromas of cassis, plums, blackberries, rose petals, rich soil tones and spices. Full-bodied, deep and immensely concentrated, with a muscular chassis of rich, powdery tannins and a layered core of fruit, it's long and penetrating. This is very promising indeed.
