Romanée Saint Vivant, Domaine Hudelot-Noellat 2018

Tasting Notes

The 2018 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru reveals a lovely bouquet of rose petals, wild berries, exotic spices and rich soil tones. This is followed by a full-bodied, deep and multidimensional palate that's concentrated and serious, built around exquisitely refined but abundant tannins, concluding with a long and expansive finish.

This is very ripe with notes of mocha and port on the liqueur-like aromas of cassis, spice and discreet floral nuances. There is better freshness to the super-sleek, intense and refined middle weight flavors that retain good detail while also flashing impressive power on the sappy and acidulated bon bons finish. This is one of those atypical 2018s that is riper than I personally prefer.
