Tasting Notes

Offering up aromas of peach, pear, golden orchard fruit and freshly baked bread, the 2019 Mâcon-Bussières Vignes de Montbrison is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with an elegantly textural attack, lively acids and a nicely defined finish. This has turned out very well.

William Kelley, Wine Advocate (249), June 2020

This vineyard is located in the village of Vergisson, near vines in the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation. The exposure of the vines is to the East. The soil is clay-limestone with many pebbles. These vines are 40 years old on average. The free run juice was fermented totally in barrels with 25% new oak. The fermentations lasted until the beginning of December. The wine was then matured in barrels for a further 6 months with regular stirring of the lees. Bright lemon in the glass with a flinty, smoky nose of ripe lemon curd. The palate has excellent density and richness, with fleshy peach fruit and creamy breadth, the ripeness is cut by refreshing and zesty acidity. Fleshy and round, this is a juicy and open-knit style perfect for drinking over the next 3+ years.
