Tasting Notes

Earthy, mineral-like nuances intermixed with cranberry and cherry notes are present in this medium-bodied, superficial, but complex, charming St.-Emilion. While lacking power and richness, it offers complex aromatics and flavors in a mid-weight, delicate format. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.

Interesting aromas of delicate dark fruits and sandalwood follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate, with fine tannins and a silky finish. Balanced and caressing. Lovely sweet fruit on the finish. Canon shows reserve and refinement this year. Best after 2011. 3,750 cases made.

This classic, austere, dark ruby/purple-tinged 2004 reveals notes of crushed rocks, black cherries, and blueberries, medium body, a firm structure, and a moderately long finish. The antithesis of a hedonistic Bordeaux, it offers striking minerality and noteworthy character. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019.

Shows berry and raisin character, with leafy undertones. Full-bodied, with lots of good fruit and velvety tannins. Canon continues to show its class even in more difficult vintages.

Dark crimson which glows with health. Extremely bumptious ripeness - almost New World ripeness! Very, very sweet, and soft for a 2004. The tannins are the finest I have come across - one almost has to struggle to find them. A dancing lively wine with real finesse. This is the airiest right bank wine so far. Bravo. Pure pleasure. Although it may not be one of the longest lasting... Drink 2010-20
