La Croix de Gay 2015

Tasting Notes

The medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2015 La Croix de Gay has a meaty, vaguely plummy nose with earthy undertones and a savory edge. Full-bodied with a firm backbone of chewy tannins, it's got just enough freshness to lift the earthy/savory flavors, finishing long.

The 2015 La Croix de Gay felt a little pinched on the nose and needed more fruit to come through—this is more earthy and smoky in style. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, masculine and rather obdurate, saline in the mouth but it needs more fruit to fill in the gaps. I would like to revisit this in two or three years to see it has gained more substance.
