Barca Velha, Casa Ferreirinha 1983

After a colder winter than normal there was a late flowering, but a hot, dry June allowed the wines to catch up a little. July and August were without excessive heat, to result in a vintage delayed to the first week of October under exceptional, dry conditions. There is some maturity on the rim, with a nose of red and black fruits and spice, still showing a youthful greenness. There is more breadth, depth and complexity to come.
