Tasting Notes

Deep crimson. Refreshing, zesty nose. Nicely balanced with good tannin/acid balance and already giving classic, if not outstanding, claret pleasure. Tannins on the way out and fresh, if slightly dusty, fruit. QGV 14%

Ripe and fleshy, with lots of roasted vanilla bean and fresh espresso, followed by dark, winey cassis and blackberry fruit. An intense licorice edge and a solid, tarry finish imparts drive. Best from 2014 through 2023.

Negociant Dourthe's flagship property, the one where we all taste a wide range of primeurs – and may spend even more time there now that the UGC has revised its own primeurs tastings. 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot aged for 14 months in oak barrels of which 48% were new. Vigorous crimson colour. Discreet, rigorous nose and a refreshing dryness (as opposed to sweetness) on the palate. Well balanced with good tannin management and (just) enough fruit for the fine tannins. Very appetising. Confident, quite complex wine with a fine, persistent finish. 2015 - 2024
