There are just over three barrels of the extraordinary 2018 Musigny Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) this year, a magical wine in the making that unwinds in the glass with a stunning bouquet of raspberries, cherries, blood orange, rose petals, violets and deep soil tones. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and complete, with an elegantly muscular and multidimensional core, lively acids and a long, intensely sapid finish.
A densely fruited and equally spicy if more restrained nose grudgingly displays liqueur-like aromas of plum, Asian-style spices, sandalwood, hoisin and an abundance of floral influences. The round and sleek large scaled flavors re rich to the point of opulence though underneath the baby fat is evident muscle and minerality, both of which gradually emerges as the hugely long finish sits on the palate. This is one very serious wine that will almost certainly require the better part of two decades, and perhaps even more, to arrive at its full peak.
