Strong reduction and less obvious, though hardly invisible, wood presently dominates the underlying fruit. There is a wonderfully seductive mouthfeel to the velvet-textured flavors that possess that beguiling inner mouth perfume as well as plenty of dry extract that buffers the moderately firm tannic spine on the solidly lingering and mildly warm finish. This too needs to add depth but that should gradually develop over time.
Like this year's Baudes, the 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées (Domaine Louis Jadot) is especially successful, revealing lovely aromas of raspberries, potpourri, Asian spices, black tea and cherries. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and supple, with a layered core that's gourmand and charming, concluding with a long and perfumed finish.
Ripe, fleshy red cherries and a little white pepper on the nose with a little toast. Structured and rich, with juicy red fruit at the core and lifted floral tones on the back end. Powderry, soft tannins persist through to the very long finish that should make this a wine to lay down.
