A 0.3-ha (0.75-acre) parcel on deeper topsoil but the limestone below is a strong influence. This is their most sheltered Chardonnay block but it ripens later because itβs more vigorous. Tiny vintage because of powdery mildew in 2018. Diabolical to control β yield less than 2 t/ha. Whole-bunch pressing, cloudy juice, spontaneous ferment, one new barrel out of four. Very smoky and lightly reductive β struck match. Super-complex mealy texture, citrus and savoury at the same time. Full in the mouth but the balance is excellent with the freshness. Chalky and salty on the finish. Long and deep but full of energy. Mouth-watering finish. Drink 2020 β 2028
