Barbaresco Pajore, Cantina Rizzi 2016

Tasting Notes

Treiso. Tasted blind. Mid to deep ruby with orange tinges. Concentrated, complex nose with hints of cardamom and nutmeg. Elegant, lively fruit followed by bags of coating, bitter-sweet tannins that are still a little tough and with marked acidity on the finish, but this has the bones for ageing. 2022-2032

The 2016 Barbaresco Pajorè is a dense and thickly structured wine that opens to dried cherries and blackberries, followed by spice, leather and tar. This wine shows volume and fullness in the mouth, with a soft and generous approach. Following its time in oak, the wine sits in concrete tanks for eight months before going into the bottle. 2020-2033.
