Tasting Notes

The soft, plump, round, and opulent 2003 offers plenty of fig, plum, black cherry, and currant fruit, low acidity, and sweet tannin in a charming, up-front style. Drink it over the next decade.

Loads of blackberry, currant and spice character on the nose. Full-bodied, with sweet fruit and ripe tannins. Long and caressing. Very well done. Best after 2010. 7,000 cases made.

James Suckling, WineSpectator.com, March 2006

Dark crimson. Complete and silky and with lots of fruit. Still youthful. Very well mannered. Rather succulent. Well balanced. (Average group score: 15.5)

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (158), April 2005

This perennial underachiever has come through with a solid effort in 2003, not surprising considering how strong this vintage is for St.-Estephe. A deep ruby/plum/purple color is accompanied by pure fruit, medium body, low acidity, and notes of minerals, black currants, cherries, and earth. Tannin in the finish is present, but well-integrated as well as ripe. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2014.

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (152), April 2004

Pure currants and licorice on the nose. Wonderful Cabernet. Full-bodied, with super-silky tannins and a long fniish. Could turn out to be very special for this estate.

Ch Cos Labory , 2003 St-Estèphe 17.5 Drink 2012-25
Very dark. Succulent, opulent, polished texture. Alcohol and tannins overwhelmed by lots of ripe fruit. Very glamorous for the money. Mouthfilling.

17.5
Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, November 2005

Deep, exciting crimson. Exciting classic tension. Serious stuff! Full, opulent and the extraordinary ripeness is, just, kept in check by the corset of tannins
