Tasting Notes

The 2018 Mâcon-Bussières Vignes de Montbrison offers up aromas of pear and green apples, framed by toasty oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and muscular, with a lively spine of acidity and a nicely balanced profile. This old-vine cuvée saw 20% new wood this year, which marks it a bit more than it did last year's rendition.

The wood treatment isn't subtle as it's present on the liqueur-like aromas of pear and matchstick and also extends to the round, rich and vibrant medium weight flavors that exhibit reasonably good length on the lemony and dry finish. This is a bit oaky for my taste though not so much as to seriously detract from the overall appeal.
