This is definitely a wine for foie gras rather than dessert because it's exotic on the nose, showing aromas of mangoes, pineapple and apricots. Luscious in texture but not that sweet. A long and elegant finish. In fact, almost delicate. Drink or hold.
Though this is a Vendange Tardive it is not fully sweet, with less than 50g/l residual sugar. The nose has notes of straw, cider apple, cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate is textural rich and medium sweet, with notes of beeswax, tarte tatin and spice. The core of fruit is dense and compact, with bright acidity suggesting this is a wine with potential to improve with age. A fine, harmonious and long finish is testament to this.
The 2016 Turckheim Pinot Gris Clos Jebsal Vendange Tardive is fresh and mineral on the nose and displays an intense lemon zest and juice expression. On the palate, this is an elegant, firm, concentrated, fresh and mineral PG VT with a tight, long and well-structured finish. The sweetness is well-captured by the tannins and the inner freshness. Great aging potential. 2020 - 2036
