Tasting Notes

The gorgeously elegant, concentrated 1997 exhibits a dark ruby/purple color and a beautifully knit, blackberry and cherry-scented nose with toasty oak in the background. Not a massive effort, it offers beautifully supple fruit flavors, an attractive fragrance, a ripe, sweet mid-palate, and soft tannin. Drink this seductive, lush Troplong Mondot over the next 5-6 years. Last tasted, 11/02.

The impressive 1997 is one of the vintage's top wines. The color is saturated black purple, and the nose offers up blackberry, cassis, olive, and licorice scents along with nicely integrated toasty new oak. In the mouth, there is immpeccable balance, gorgeously sweet layers of ripe fruit, medium body, fabulous concentration, and sweet, velvety tannin. This should be a charming, seductive Troplong-Mondot that can consumed early. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2015.
