The top of the range will be given one more year of bottle age, so the 2014 Macán will not be released until 2019. Nevertheless, the wine has been in bottle since May 2016, and I was able to have a preview of it; I hope to revisit in my following round of Rioja tastings. This selection from their best Tempranillo vineyards in San Vicente de la Sonsierra fermented in French oak vats for 10 to 15 days and aged in brand new French barriques for 16 to 18 months. It's now going to rest in bottle for three years before it's released. It feels like a step ahead in balance, integration and in the quality of the tannins, which showed fine-grained and elegant. 66,166 bottles along with 2,041 magnums, 86 double magnums and 25 imperials were produced. 2019 - 2024
