Tasting Notes

Within its riper and showier personality, the 2012 La Viña de Andres Romeo is the cuvée produced with the grapes from the vineyard that Romeo's father Andrés planted 40 years ago with Tempranillo. The wine fermented in a single 10,000-liter oak vat with natural yeast and went through malolactic in barrel, followed by 19 months in brand new French oak barrels. You can see the quality of the fruit here that is able to stand up to the oak and the aromas are primarily from the grapes, with perfumed notes of flowers and a juicy palate with very fine tannins, in a Burgundian way. 4,000 bottles produced.

Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate (218), April 2015

The wine has a very expressive, deep and pure nose, spicy, vinous character and dark ripe fruit. Great texture and exceptionally salty. It is firm, concentrated, serious and an archetypal representation of Rioja. Flavourful with green coffee, earthy and tea flavours. Long finish and still potential to evolve in bottle. 2015 - 2030
