Gevrey Chambertin Coeur du Roy, Domaine Dugat-Py 2015

Tasting Notes

**Note: from vines of 50 to 100+ years of age situated in Epointures, Combe du Dessus, Jouise, and Les Marchais; vinified with 70% of the stems**
This too is quite firmly reduced. Otherwise there is a lovely sense of vibrancy and punch to the delicious but quite serious middle weight flavors that brim with dry extract on the sappy and mineral-driven finish. The old vines are very much in evidence and despite this being quite firmly structured, it's not so firm that it couldn't be enjoyed after 5-ish years or so.

The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin "Cuvée Coeur de Roy" contains 70-80% whole bunch fruit with 70% new oak. It has a fresh and vibrant bouquet with quite energetic red and black fruit, good mineralité and tension. The palate is fresh on the entry with firm tannin, more black fruit here coming through with good tension, structured and masculine compared to other growers' village cru towards the dense finish.
