Tasting Notes

Prüm's 2016 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese (Auction) has a deep, precise and complex yet not overly fruity bouquet of ripe fruits and lovely floral notes. Pure, fresh and piquant on the palate, this is a straightforward Spätlese with grip and tension but also finesse and great elegance. The finish is intensely rich and fruity but encountered by this remarkable refreshing piquancy and lingering grip. This Spätlese (AP 15 17) is far too young to drink in the next 10 years, but it will surely reward your patience. Drink 2028-2050.

This proves hugely backward and only gradually reveals scents of cassis, green herbs, pear and almond (from reduction). The wine proves on the sweeter side on the palate at this early stage but already reveals a gorgeous feel of yellow fruits in the long and persistent finish. This will need quite some time to develop its balance and integrate its sweetness. It could then well prove a smasher albeit in a possibly slightly rounder style than
usual. 2031-2046
