The 2016 Macon Vergisson la Roche comes from vines at the top of the Roche de Vergisson and is aged in 20% new oak, the yields reduced to 40% less than normal. It has a more powerful bouquet with yellow plum and honeysuckle aromas, the oak nicely integrated here. The palate is well balanced and though not complex, I appreciate the tension of this wine and the energy conveyed by the finish. Brisk and delicious, enjoy this over the next four to five years.
