Gevrey Chambertin, Clos St Jacques, Cuvee Centenaire, Domaine Fourrier 2015

Tasting Notes

**Note: from vines planted in 1910**
As one would expect this is aromatically quite similar to the regular cuvée except that here it's just slightly more complex and the wood treatment is more evident as well. Otherwise, there is a bit more mid-palate concentration to the equally pure but richer flavors that possess a highly seductive mouth feel thanks to the impressive profusion of dry extract, all wrapped in a strikingly persistent finish. This too should age extremely well but given the richness and lack of austerity, it too should be approachable after only a few years of bottle age.

The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques "Cuvée Centenaire" comes from the oldest vines in the vineyard planted in 1910. It has a very intense bouquet with ripe redcurrant, crushed strawberry and minerals, perhaps a little more blue fruit than the regular cuvée. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannin, a little chewy and quite firm in the mouth, perhaps more masculine. Although maybe the regular cuvée has a little more precision on the finish? Give this 4-5 years in bottle for it to reach its drinking plateau.
