Tasting Notes

**Note: made from the first bunch on each fruiting cane; about 600 bottles will be produced**
The all but closed nose only grudgingly reveals dark berry fruit, spice, menthol and oak-tinged aromas that are a bit more elegant and slightly more complex as well. The superbly dense and imposingly scaled flavors possess seemingly endless reserves of mouth coating extract that does a fine job of buffering the extremely firm tannins that shape the hugely long finish. This is even more backwards than the old vines cuvée with the same phenomenal length if perhaps not quite the same fine delineation. In both cases these wines are works in progress and it will be interesting to follow their respective evolutions over time as both should amply reward extended cellaring.
