Tasting Notes

The Vignes de Montbrison is very impressive this year, with a complex bouquet of lemon oil, pear, toasted wheat and smoke, framed by very subtle new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and deep at the core, with a refined, creamy texture and lovely tension.

The 2015 Macon-Bussières "Vignes de Montbrison", cropped at 35 hectoliters per hectare, has a crisp, lime flower-scented bouquet with a hint of orange blossom, pretty and harmonious. The palate is fresh on the entry with sour lemon, a touch of grassiness, moderate weight with a mineral-driven finish that just cuts away swiftly. Apart from that, this is a fine Macon-Bussières.

Perfumed smoky, white flowers the nose is fresh the palate richer and sweeter with pears and tropical fruits. Toasty, creamy richness in the middle the back palate has fresh fruit grapefruit
and lime the finish more slate and mineral with excellent length. 2017-22

Located next to the village of Vergisson with an east-facing exposure. The soil is a clay and limestone mix with stones on the top soil. The vines have an average age of 40 years. The yield is 35 hl/ha this year and was hand harvested. The wine was vinified in oak, of which 20% was new, and the fermentation lasted until late December. It was then raised in barrel for 5 months without batonnage. This wine has a ripe, creamy, peach and pear fruit nose and a touch of sweet vanilla from oak. The palate is oily and concentrated with smoky undertones giving structure to a juicy fruit core. The finish is long, intense and primary.
