Tasting Notes

Aromas of dried pineapple and papaya. Mango, too. Full-bodied, focused and tight with a precise, medium-bodied palate and wonderful phenolic tension. Very defined and focused. Extremely long. Just a kiss of oak. Drink now or hold.

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, February 2018

Blended of 55% Sauvignon Blanc, 43% Sémillon and 2% Muscadelle, the 2015 Aile d’Argent charges forth from the glass with gregarious ripe peach, pink grapefruit and orange blossom notes plus touches of beeswax, fresh hay, acacia honey, baking bread and allspice. Medium-bodied, the palate is tightly wound and satiny textured with wonderful freshness defining the palate and lifting the intense stone fruit and savory layers, finishing very long and very minerally. 2018 - 2030

Relatively complex nose. As though this is a wine with a future. I really like the dry finish and nutty layers. Bone dry but lots of interest. Racy but not ready.
Drink 2017-2024

Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, April 2016

Made from Sauvignon and Muscadelle, the 2015 Aile D'Argent Blanc is a medium-bodied, ripe, nicely concentrated white that has outstanding notes of buttered citrus, Meyer lemon and a touch of toasted spice. It’s balanced, has ample mid-palate depth and solid freshness, all of which make it a seriously delicious white. 2018 - 2026

Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com, November 2017

Rich and ripe on the nose a peachy depth and there is a rich mix of tropical fruits on the start of the palate. Firm and fresh in the middle citrusy and bright a bit tight and although there is a sweeter richer feel on the back palate the finish is quite tight. 2018-26

Derek Smedley MW, DerekSmedleyMW.co.uk, April 2016

Made from five parcels of vines, all of them in Pauillac, Château Mouton-Rothschild’s white was picked early to retain acidity. Sappy, leesy and fresh, with a kiss of vanilla spice and notes of lemongrass and white pepper. Only 18,000 bottles made, alas. Drink: 2017-22

Tim Atkin MW, timatkin.com, April 2016

With more Sauvignon exoticism and several flashy tangs of citrus, this is a rather cheeky wine with more than a little
flirtatiousness encouraged throughout. Not a wine to keep but a wine to make the most of with friends, this is a jolly
creation showing the humour and flair at Mouton.

The 2015 Aile d'Argent Blanc, a blend of 55% Sauvignon Blanc, 43% Sémillon and 2% Muscadelle, has an attractive bouquet of lime cordial, pink grapefruit and apricot that gently unfolds in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with a keen thread of acidity that runs through waxy-textured fresh pear, grapefruit and lime notes. There is just a touch of malolactic fermentation here (actually around 7% of the total according to winemaker Philippe Dhalluin) that just lends cohesion and smoothness to the finish. With a dash of lemongrass loitering on the aftertaste, this is a very fine Aile d'Argent that should age well over the course of a decade, possibly more. Drink 2019-2032

This has crazy energy with dried pineapple, pear and sliced apple. Full body, exotic and lively long. So exciting. 55% sauvignon 43% semillon and muscadelle.
