Mazoyeres Chambertin, Domaine Perrot-Minot 2014

Dark red with ruby reflections. Liqueur-like black cherry, wild mint, leather and pepper scents are wonderfully subtle and complex for such an obviously ripe wine. The highly concentrated, silky-sweet middle palate conveys a distinctly crunchy character to the flavors of dark raspberry and mint. Plush, broad and very ripe but classically dry in spite of its strong impression of sucrosité. Offers a remarkable combination of power and suavity and finishes extremely long, with fine-grained tannins. This wine will merit a score at the high end of my projected range if it develops a bit more tannic spine by the time it goes into bottle.
