Classic aromas of lead pencil, blackcurrants and currant bush. Medium to full body, velvety tannins and a focused finish. A beauty. So classy and serious. Best ever? Hard not to drink now. Almost all cabernet sauvignon. Try in 2020.
Lightly mulled plum and blackberry fruit forms the core, along with notes of fresh tobacco leaf, leather and pencil shavings. A touch old-school, but has good flesh and weight to keep the finish going. Drink now through 2024. 12,500 cases made.
The 2014 Lynch Moussas was actually more expressive than the 2014 Batailley on the nose with lifted redcurrant, cranberry and wild strawberry scents mingling with sous-bois and tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and a keen line of acidity, well balanced with attractive smoke and tobacco notes complementing the red berry fruit on the finish. This has good potential, a Pauillac that is likely to be underappreciated by the market, yet to register the improvement at the Castèja family's estate. Drink Date 2020-2045
