Tasting Notes

The 2014 St Veran Vigne de St Claude comes from a parcel of vines in the village of Prissé that are over 50-years in age and sees 20% new oak. It has a cocktail of lemon, orange blossom and white peach on the nose, even a distant tang of peppermint in the background. The palate is quite rounded on the entry with a touch of honey, one of Verget's more exotic and generous Mâconnais wines with a fresh, tensile finish that satisfies. Drink 2015-2025.

An expressive, cool and notably high-toned nose displays notes of grapefruit, acacia blossom, apple and discreet spice nuances. I like the richness that is buffered by a firm minerality on the medium-bodied flavors that possess an attractively racy finish though not the same depth of the Le Clos. Drink: 2018+

(Score actually 16++) 20% new oak. Prissé location and 50-year-old vines. Very edgy nose with masses of lemon and lime. Crunchy and chewy. Chalky finish.
