Grands Echézeaux, Domaine Georges Noellat 2013

Tasting Notes

**Note: from a .40 ha parcel**
A brooding but beautifully layered nose features spiced plum, red raspberry and exotic tea notes. The powerful, concentrated and exceptionally rich broad-shouldered flavors possess plenty of muscle as the dense but fineof muscle andll of which are cellarings full apogee.ry firm effort will requirethe context of the appellation, all wrappe mouth coating tannins will require up to decade to completely resolve even though I suspect that it will be approachable in its youth. This is not especially complex at present but I like this harmonious effort anyway.

The 2013 Grands Echézeaux from Domaine Georges Noëllat is an outstanding follow-up
to the absolutely brilliant wine that Monsieur Cheurlin made here in the 2012 vintage. The deep,
complex and very, very promising nose delivers scents of black cherries, dark berries, coffee
bean, gamebirds, a superb base of soil, woodsmoke and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep,
full-bodied, pure and nicely reserved in profile, with a rock solid core, lovely soil inflection, ripe,
seamless tannins and outstanding length and grip on the tangy and impeccably balanced finish.
This was raised in one hundred percent new wood in 2013, but it has absolutely devoured its
wood component in this vintage. Another absolutely superb example of Grands Echézeaux in the
making. 2023-2070.

This isn't quite as ripe as the Echézeaux with a brooding nose that features spiced plum, red raspberry and exotic tea notes. The powerful, concentrated and exceptionally rich broad-shouldered flavors possess plenty of muscle as the dense but fineof muscle andll of which are cellarings full apogee.ry firm effort will requirethe context of the appellation, all wrappe mouth coating tannins will require all of 12 years to completely resolve even though I suspect that it will be approachable in its youth. I very much like this as it's a harmonious effort with lovely depth and length. Drink: 2025+
