Clos de Vougeot, Jean-Marie Fourrier 2012

Tasting Notes

**Note: this wine is a négociant offering vinified from purchased fruit**
This the first wine to display any appreciable amount of wood though it's not so much to really detract from the brooding and very fresh nose of dark berry, earth and a whisper of smoked meat. There is an attractive texture to the broad-shouldered medium weight flavors that also possess good size and weight, all wrapped in a highly persistent, austere and notably tight finish. This will require a few years to really unwind.

The 2012 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru has an open and generous bouquet with lifted fresh strawberry, citrus and forest floor scents. The palate is structured on the entry, much edgier than the Echezeaux with grippy tannins towards the finish that make this a more masculine proposition. Two barrels produced this year.
