Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Domaine Robert Groffier 2011

Tasting Notes

(two-thirds vendange entier; from a crop level of just 23 hectoliters per hectare, or about 10 h/h lower than the estate's other crus, according to Nicolas Groffier; finished its malolactic fermentation three weeks before my visit): Deep, saturated ruby. Very dark aromas of black cherry, violet, dark chocolate and crushed stone. Large-scaled and seriously structured, but dominated today by musky and saline qualities. Finishes with a strong spine of acidity and tannins and excellent length. This is showing the effects of a recent sulfur addition.

90/93
