Tasting Notes

This is usually a very fine but rarely profound example of the appellation but in 2005 it absolutely leaves in the dust its usual quality level and it was without question the biggest, and best, surprise of my visit chez Drouhin. A touch of wood toast frames the elegant, pure, intense and gorgeously spicy black pinot fruit that complements perfectly the big, robust, sweet and large-scaled flavors that are underpinned by very firm buried tannins and sensational length. Like the Griotte, this has that that 'wow' factor and then some. Quite simply put, this is reference standard juice in 2005. Don't miss it and it is a wine that I will be putting in my cellar.
