Chambolle Musigny Amoureuses, Domaine Robert Groffier 2010

Tasting Notes

A spicy, fresh and restrained nose offers good if not special complexity on the mostly red berry fruit-suffused nose. There is good verve and reasonably good detail to the lightly mineral-inflected medium-bodied flavors that possess solid concentration on the lingering and balanced finish. While certainly a good effort I was somewhat under-whelmed given the usual standards this wine offers. Note that the '10 Amoureuses will is already approachable though it should be capable of rewarding 8 to 10 years of cellar time. Drink 2018+

Good medium red. Highly perfumed but youthfully reticent nose suggests flowers, licorice, pepper, crushed rock and brown spices. Sweet, seamless and utterly primary, with terrific intensity to the dark berry and spice flavors. But this extremely backward wine will need a decade of aging. Finishes with dusty tannins and vibrant, lingering notes of ginger and lavender.
