Charmes Chambertin, Domaine Taupenot-Merme 2009

A beautifully layered, even perfumed nose of plum, underbrush and very ripe red currant merges into seductively textured but firm and powerful flavors blessed with an abundance of structure-buffering extract on the mouth coating finish. This is a notably robust effort that is given shape by the very firm but buried tannins and I like the excellent balance. This big-bodied effort really fans out on the gorgeously long finish and it should be capable of aging very well over the next 12 to 15 years.
