A perfumed and unusually cool nose in the context of the vintage is both elegance and complex red berry fruit-liqueur aromas that are liberally cut with wet stone and soft earth notes. There is good delineation to the middle weight flavors that possess firm tannins and plenty of punch as the palate impression of the dusty and mineral-inflected finish is linear and moderately austere. Despite the austerity, this is really quite classy. Note that I have shortened my estimated initial drinking window by a few years though be aware that this will still require at least 10 to 12 years to arrive at its peak.
This is fresher than the Vigne au Saint with a bit more elegance as well with primarily red berry fruit-liqueur aromas that are liberally cut with wet stone and soft earth notes that continue onto the well-delineated flavors that possess a completely different mouth feel as here the palate impression is linear to the point of being almost strict as the minerality is almost pungent. Despite the austerity, this is really quite classy.
