Magdelaine 2008

Tasting Notes

A sleeper of the vintage, this well-executed 2008 St.-Emilion exhibits a dark plum/ruby/purple-tinged color as well as a glorious bouquet of sweet black cherries, licorice and powdered limestone, a good texture, medium to full body and a pure style. Combining substance with finesse, it should age effortlessly for 15+ years.

Offers plum, almost prune, with hints of chocolate. Medium-bodied, with soft tannins and berry and chocolate flavors. Balanced and pretty

An outstanding effort from this estate, this 2008 boasts a deep ruby/purple color as well as gorgeous aromas of kirsch liqueur, licorice, spring flowers, and crushed rocks. It is a concentrated, dense St.-Emilion with sweet tannins and seemingly low acidity (although analytically that is not the case). This full-bodied, rich, stunning Magdelaine should reach its peak in 5-6 years, and last for 25 or more
