Tasting Notes

Tasted blind at Farr's 2002 Bordeaux tasting. Amazing how well this Pomerol performs in blind tastings and no change here. It has quite a broody blackberry nose inflected with hints of Valrhona chocolate, sloe, Maraschino cherry and violets, opening up nicely in the glass. The full-bodied palate is modern and showing with fresh fig and raisin notes interwoven into those ripe toasty black fruits. Youthful, good persistency and a tannic, quite grippy finish that lingers in the mouth. Yet another great showing for Clos l'Eglise in a blind tasting. Tasted October 2009.

Drink 2007-12 Dense crimson. Very ripe notes on the nose. Lots of molasses. Sweet and thick and with lots to get your teeth into. Slightly furry tannins on the finish. A difficult wine to mark because it will give some people lots of pleasure yet is far from classical.
