Gevrey Chambertin Clos Saint Jacques, Domaine Armand Rousseau 1988

Tasting Notes

Beautifully complex older burg aromas that have turned largely secondary in character followed by dense, still somewhat tannic flavors of good breed and distinction plus lovely length. This is as good as it's going to get though it might soften further; still, given the rapidly maturing nature of the fruit, I would opt to drink this sooner than later. Another recent bottle tasted in Burgundy was slightly fresher and though it was more austere, it was also more promising, rating 90/2006-20.
