There are only 1,000 cases of this sumptuous, open-knit effort that proprietor Christian Moueix has carved out of the property formerly known as Certan Giraud (the oldest vines and best parcels now make up the newly named Hosanna). The deep ruby-colored 2000, the debut vintage under Christian Moueix's management, offers up a sweet nose of black cherry and plum liqueur intermixed with licorice, truffles, and toffee. Made in a plump, hedonistic, medium to full-bodied, dense style, it is uncharacteristically forward and plush for a Moueix wine. Anticipated maturity: now-2013.
Complex, yet subtle, with blackberries, minerals and berries. Full-bodied and very velvety, with lovely rich fruit, with chocolate and berry character. Very long and refined. A joy to taste. Drink now through 2010.
The nose on this wine is so expressive - lots of black fruit, liquorice and truffles, hints of cedar wood and toffee. This is a seriously complex wine which, whilst showing a few secondary characteristics in the background, is still very fresh and vibrant. Rich, voluptuous and creamy - this is everything that you'd want in a Pomerol.
