Romanée Saint Vivant, Domaine de la Romanée Conti 1991

Tasting Notes

This possesses a clasic RSV nose with kaleidoscopic aromas of Vosne spice, black fruit and hints of earth and violets that is followed by rich and velvety middle weight flavors that offer genuinely stunning complexity and exceptional length. To my taste this has finally arrived at its apogee though it should last for another 20 years before beginning a gentle decline. Multiple and consistent notes save for two bottles that were plagued by both high levels of volatile acidity and reduction; moreover both of them came from perfect storage and appeared to be in pristine condition.
